Magic “ 5 ” Rhyming Fun
“Sensitivity to rhyme makes both a direct and indirect contribution to reading. The child's subsequent sensitivity to common letter sequences then makes a significant contribution to reading strategy development.” - Dr Kerry Hempenstall
Kids will have loads of fun with this camp of music, story, craft and movement. They will develop key early literacy skills of phonemic awareness, rhyming and word families (“ed”, “ay”, “ound” and “at”) through 5 all-time favorite nursery rhymes. We will explore 3 types of rhymes: End Rhymes, Last Syllable Rhymes and Double Rhymes. But the fun and learning do not end here. They will also improve their math skills of number manipulation, addition and subtraction within five. Math drills? No! Our preschoolers will learn these skills by comprehending and acting out the rhyme stories because all of them have the number element of 5!
Key Learning Objectives:
Fledging Class (3-4 yr): Distinguish letter names and letter sounds; understand what rhyming is and produce thereof; recite the 5 rhymes; read the 5 rhyme picture cards; number manipulation within 5.

Short & Long – All about Vowels
“Consonants being the structure, vowels are the heart of any word. The sounds of vowels must be learned.”
This camp will make the challenging task of learning vowels fun and easy! Kids will learn these 5 special letters in the alphabet through songs, movement activities, arts & crafts and book making . They will impersonate the 5 vowels, one per week, and learn the dual sounding structure of them. And that's not all. They will leave the camp with several “Free Fly Secrets” under their belt (sound patterns such as “CV” (consonant-vowel), “CVC” (consonant-vowel-consonant) and “CVV” (consonant-vowel-vowel))* to help them become successful independent readers.
